Minister receives Sponsland Design Manifesto

22 January 2021

Design exhibition ‘Sponsland’ focuses on the climate adaptative landscape design. As part of Climate Adaptation Week Groningen, nine design offices were invited to design Sponsland: the climate-proof, nature-based, future landscape of the city of Groningen and its surrounding landscapes. Next to tailor-made designs, they wrote a manifesto to contribute to the global endeavors to anti anticipate on the consequences of climate change.

The Sponsland Design Manifesto contains 10 principles for successful climate-proof design. The manifesto is supported by Henk Ovink (Water Envoy of the Netherlands) and George Brugmans (Director of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam).

On January 22 the first copy of the manifesto has been handed over to an enthusiastic minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen, who will draw attention to the Sponsland Manifesto during the Climate Adaptation Summit, that starts today.
