Stadhuispromenade is nominated for the Almere Architecture Award 2024

29 May 2024

Stadhuispromenade has been nominated for the Almere Architecture Award 2024! Every two years, this prize is awarded to inspiring and high-profile architecture and urban development projects in Almere.

The Stadhuispromenade, designed by LOLA Landscape Architects, is a piece of nature in the middle of Almere’s lively city centre, where asphalt and stone have given way to greenery. A wide, semi-paved path runs from one side to the other of the luscious planted city park. The bricks that were removed were reused in the paths in and around the park, thus closing the material cycle.

In collaboration with Jan van der Ploeg and Mothership, LOLA also designed a 110-metre-long bench for the park, which connects the Stadhuisplein to the Weerwater. This sculptural work of art is an eye-catcher for the entire square.
