Populus wins Romeynshof Rotterdam competition

2 January 2023

We’re happy to announce that we won the Romeynshof competition in Rotterdam!

Populus is the name of the new green and social heart of the Ommoord district in Rotterdam. With an old poplar tree right in the middle, the new development consists of 200 new homes, a social facility and health center. Populus is located next to metro station Romeynshof, is being developed by AM and has been designed by LEVS Architects and LOLA Landscape Architects.

Our urban design is based on the former polder structure and naturally blends within the post-war high-rise ensemble of renown urban designer Lotte Stam-Beese. A large area next to the metro line is designed as an ecological linear park that connects to the main park structure of Ommoord. This ecological, water-rich zone is extended into the heart of Populus – the Populus Promenade – a lively space for everyone.
