Meelfabriek Garden public-vote winner Park of the Year

4 December 2024

The public votes for the Archello Park of the Year Award 2024 went to the design of De Meelfabriek Garden.

Based on the masterplan of Studio Akkerhuis, De Meelfabriek site has been redeveloped into a mixed-use area. For the landscape design of the public garden, LOLA Landscape Architects worked closely together with garden designer Piet Oudolf.

The garden was officially opened in the summer of 2024 and since then it is a beautiful piece of nature in the heart of this former industrial complex. It’s clear from the award that the garden has been adopted by residents of De Meelfabriek, Friends of the Singelpark, as well as other Leiden residents.

Thank you to everyone who made De Meelfabriek Garden possible, and of course thank you to all who voted for it. We also would like to congratulate Cobe on winning the Jury Award and the finalists Consequence Forma Architects, Batlleroig, Arsomsilp Community and Environmental Architect.
